FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

IMPORTANT: we urge you not to call our contact center in the next few days.

Due to the current situation it is very busy . You can find all the information currently available in the questions and answers below. We apologize that we can’t be of service to you as you would expect from us, but under the current exceptional circumstances this is not possible.

    Dear traveler,

Below we answer the most frequently asked questions about the consequences of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

I have booked a flight with Corendon with a departure date up to and including 31 May 2020; will my flight continue?

No, your vacation is cancelled. This decision is on the one hand the result of the measures communicated by our government, in which unnecessary trips abroad are advised against for the time being. In addition, far-reaching measures have also been taken at almost all holiday destinations to limit the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as a result of which holidaymakers can no longer be received and airports, hotels and restaurants are closed.  This situation is expected to continue for some time to come. In addition, we can imagine that you would prefer to continue to have that money yourself. Of course, from this moment on you can already book a new holiday with Corendon with departure later this year and pay (partly) with the value of your voucher.

What does it mean financially for me if my flight doesn't go ahead?

We have canceled your holiday, flight or cruise but you don't lose your money. You keep the amount you paid us as a credit ('voucher') for a subsequent holiday.

You can see this credit in your cost statement under the heading open in your 'My Corendon' account. If you do not have an account, you can see this amount when you log on to our website with your reservation number. Any costs paid for a seat reservation, luggage, travel- or cancellation insurance will also be part of this credit. In most cases you will not (yet) see these last amounts in your account, but of course you will also keep our credit balance. Below you can see how your credit is displayed in your account:

You don't have to decide right away which new holiday you choose; you can take your time. Afterwards you can book your new package holiday or hotel accommodation yourself via our website. If you only book a flight, this is not possible online: in that case, please contact our Contact Center. You can choose from our entire offer; it doesn't have to be the same hotel or the same destination. If the travel sum of the new trip is higher, we will charge you the additional costs. If the travel sum of the new trip is lower, the remaining amount will remain on your voucher. You can use this for the next trip. When there is less than 10% credit left, this amount of the voucher will be refunded to you. Once you have made the new booking, with the exception of individual flights, you can redeem your voucher in your 'Mijn Corendon' account. If you don’t have an account, you can login to our website with your reservation number.

Is the corona voucher legally accepted?

We realise that, under normal conditions, we must refund your entire travel amount in the event of a cancellation by the travel agency. However, the current situation is so exceptional that we take the view that it is justified to depart from the norm. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate and the ACM have also recently advised consumers to accept the voucher.

Until when is the credit balance of my cancelled flight valid?

With the credit balance of your cancelled trip you can make a new booking up to one (1) year after the voucher has been issued. The voucher is valid for all types of holidays and for single flights. The departure date of your new holiday must be no later than 31 October 2021. All further conditions of the voucher can be found at: www.corendon.nl/reistegoed.

When will I receive the physical Corendon voucher to book a new holiday?

All customers who need to receive a Corendon corona voucher have already received an e-mail about this. If you are entitled to this but haven’t yet seen the e-mail, we recommend that you check your 'unwanted e-mail' folder. It is possible that it has ended up here. The corona voucher has been added to your 'Mijn Corendon' account, which you can find here as well. More information about the use of the voucher can be found here.

I have booked a holiday with a departure date up to 1 June 2020, but I didn’t receive a cancellation letter; what should I do?

In this case something went wrong; our apologies. You can contact our Contact Center to pass on your details so that you can still receive the mail from us.

I have booked a flight with Corendon with a departure date from 1 June 2020; will my flight continue?

We cannot give a definite answer about this yet, but we do hope this of course. Corendon has now cancelled all flights with a departure date up to and including 31 May.

I have booked several flights/Holidays with Corendon; can I use the credit on the corona voucher to pay the balance of a booked holiday later this year?

    Yes, of course you can.

I have booked new tickets with my corona voucher credit and now I receive an e-mail for a deposit that is lower than my credit; what should I do?

You don't have to do anything. This is an automatically sent e-mail and you can consider it as unsent. If the down payment is higher than the balance on your corona voucher, you will have to pay the difference to us.

What happens if I book a new holiday in the coming summer with the credit on my voucher, and the new holiday does not take place after all due to the corona virus

In that case we will send you a new voucher. You can use the credit of your cancelled trip to make a new booking up to one (1) year after the voucher has been issued. The voucher is valid for all types of holidays and for single flights. The departure date of your new holiday must be no later than 31 October 2021. All other conditions of the voucher can be found under the question 'Until when is the credit balance of my cancelled trip via the Corendon corona voucher valid?'. Vouchers for package tours and hotel stays issued before 1 June 2020 are also covered by the SGR. It is not yet clear whether this period will be extended by the SGR.

I booked a seat with an airline other than Corendon's; how do I get that amount back?

If you fly with an airline other than Corendon (such as Transavia or KLM) and have booked a seat reservation there, you will have to ask for a refund from the airline where you paid for the seat reservation.

I booked a seat with an airline or travel or cancellation insurance other than Corendon's ; how do I get that amount back?

If you fly with an airline other than Corendon (such as Transavia or KLM) and have booked a seat reservation there, you will have to ask for a refund from the airline where you’ve paid for the seat reservation. If you have a travel or cancellation insurance at another company, you will have to ask for a refund from the company where you have taken out the insurance policy.

Is it wise to take out travel or cancellation insurance because of the corona virus?

We always recommend to take out a travel and cancellation insurance, regardless of the situation. However, every insurance policy is different, so you should check the policy conditions well in advance to be sure what will and won't be reimbursed. We also recommend that you check exactly what your health insurance covers. In addition, as a tour operator and airline, we are not responsible for arranging and paying for your new return flight if you miss your originally booked return flight due to quarantine. However, we are obliged to assist and support you in a situation like this and we will do so. In addition, we will help you, where possible, to arrange your return flight as cheaply as possible.

In general, are there extra measures in place because of the coronavirus?

We follow the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). These guidelines state that no additional measures are needed for the time being. In general, everyone is advised to pay close attention to general hygiene: wash hands regularly, cough and sneeze on the inside of the elbow and use paper handkerchiefs. Do you have flu or any of the coronary symptoms (fever, coughing, respiratory problems) and have you possibly been in contact with someone who may have the coronavirus? Then contact the GGD to be sure.

Are there any additional measures on board the Corendon aircraft?

As far as our flight operations are concerned, we are advised by various bodies such as the Municipal Health Service (GGD), RIVM, EASA and Schiphol Airport. Mouth caps are not recommended and screening of passengers at airports is also not necessary according to RIVM. If our airline personnel suspect that someone on board is infected with the virus, we act in accordance with existing aviation protocols.

What is the price of my ticket to come about?

After selecting the desired flight you will see the exact price structure of your flight (s). The price you see includes airport taxes (airport tax is a collective name for all fees and charges from the airport of departure and arrival will be charged to us) and any charter or weekend surcharges.  Back
